Hey folks. It looks like you've mentioned my LARP tool (Blue Rose) on your webcast. Thanks for the positive comments. I like your talk, it was informative and entertaining. Keep doing it, it is a worthwhile thing.

I am going to change the name for version 0.2, but I don't have much of an imagination. So, any suggestions you might have would be helpful... :)

As for beta, well, beta is beta. This kinda work is slow at best, with me having an actual full-time job (security consultant for a system integrator). What worries me most is the GUI. I admit upfront that I am horrible with graphics. I've been concentrating on function mostly so far. Hopefully for v0.2 I will have a bit more graphics out.

You suggestion that Blue Rose be compatible with Grapevine is neat. The problem lies in Grapevine's binary storage format. Still, if Grapevine's author is willing to help a little, I can probably get some sort of character importing and exporting function going. One of the things I am planning for Blue Rose is character sheet templates. When I get that functionality in, character exporting and importing will be easy as a HTML file.

As for problems with server stability for Blue Rose versus Grapevine, that hasn't been as issue for me. So far, I've been running Blue Rose on OpenBSD, which is rock-solid. The only time it crashed on me in 3 years was when power ran out. Also, you can run Blue Rose on your own PC as a stand-alone. You need Apache with PHP and PostgreSQL, but it is doable and not terribly difficult IMHO. In that case you have a portable Blue Rose install (of course, it is not available from the Web unless your PC or laptop is connected to the Internet).
